The Natural space of Doņana is formed by the National and Natural park of the same name and nowadays is one of the most interesting areas in Europe for birdwatching. More than 300 species of this animal group visit Doņana in different moments of the year. At the Beginning of the fall and during the winter you can enjoy the staying of thousands of birds coming from the north of Europe. In Spring and Summer comes from Africa another similar quantity seeking food and softer weather, being lots of species the ones that breed in here, mainly aquatic birds. In fact Doņana is considered one of the most important humid areas in Europe.

Doņana is a privileged place because of the variety of the existing landscapes. From the infinite virginal beaches to the immense marsh flatlands, passing through the spectaculars dune systems and the big Mediterranean forest and scrubland, these lands are one of the last refuges of the Iberic Lynx and the Spanish Imperial Eagle.

The marked seasonality of their ecosystems because of the Mediterranean weather is one of the keys to understand its diversity. In Doņana, more than in any other place we can say that there are four seasons. In each of them the flora, fauna, the light,… are so different that we could say that they are four different places. So for knowing really well Doņana we should visit it in different moments of the year.

These lands have been populated and modified by men during the history. Traditional works as bee keepers, coal works, stone pine seeds collection or agriculture are still carried on. From its cattle tradition is conserved the “Saca de las Yeguas” that is celebrated every year in June at the Almonte municipality. It also takes place in this municipality the El Rocío Pilgrimation, one of the most famous ones.
